I've built 4 guitars so far, using the LMII adjustable two way truss rod (installed so that it's accessible through the sound hole, not the headplate.) The approach that I've followed is through Kincead's book, with the trench routed in a slight concave curve (from the top of the fretboard) - so that when tension is put on the truss rod - it resists the tension of the strings. So, my question is this - A guitar that's been strung up for about a year now is showing a fair amount of bow in the neck. I've tightened the truss rod completely, but I'm concerned that it's not working as designed. What have you all learned about important installment issues on truss rods? Thanks. |

The new truss rods slot needs to be straight. There is an application instruction with the truss rod , use that. Some will have you silicone the truss rods in , others epoxy. If you don't put them in as they are designed , you can't expect them to work. |

Curved slots can be used on single action truss rods, but double action rods need a straight slot, as John stated. |

Thanks - That's news to me - perhaps I overlooked instructions I received when I purchased them from LMII - I'll certainly take a close look next time. |
